John Edward Wilson

July 10, 1941 — June 23, 2016

Dr. John Edward (“Jack”) Wilson of Arlington, TX, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at the age of 74. Jack was born in Trenton, New Jersey on July 10, 1941. An accomplished educator and lifelong learner, Jack received his Ed.D. in 1979 at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. His passion for education continued with post-graduate studies at Dallas Theological Seminary. Jack's professional career included leadership roles with Colgate-Palmolive, Johnson & Johnson, GTE, and Soneta. Faith and family were the bedrocks of Jack's life. He honored his commitment to love and cherish in sickness and in health, caring tirelessly for his first wife, Mabel, as she succumbed to cancer – and later, to his wife Carolyn, who, in 2014, also passed of cancer. He was an active member of his community group at Pantego Bible Church, and he served as an ombudsman for the Tarrant County Council on Aging. Jack is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Sean and Carolyn Lilly Wilson, his two grandchildren (Echo and Sophie), and his nephews, Mark and Bradley Vanselous. He is preceded in death by his wife of thirty-eight years, Mabel Elizabeth (Dobronte) Wilson, and by his wife Carolyn Miller Wilson, who passed in 2015. His parents and sister also precede him in death. Family and friends will celebrate Jack's life by gathering at Pantego Bible Church at 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 10 (which would have been Jack's 75th birthday). Jack had a bit of a sweet tooth, so we will honor him on his birthday with a dessert reception. Memorials may be made to Pantego Bible Church's Global Impact Ministry, 8001 Anderson Boulevard, Fort Worth, Texas 76120, or to the charity of your choice. Jack was an avid computer user; as such, we invite friends and family to express their love, memories, and appreciation on his Facebook page. The family would like to thank all of Jack's caregivers and medical professionals, especially his dear friend Pat, who took care of him until his final hours.
