CEDAR HILL -- John Edward Bucko, 98, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 in Cedar Hill.
Funeral: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 1200 S. Davis Drive, Arlington. Interment: 1:00 p.m. Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, Lane A. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington.
John was born on July 27, 1916 in Bayonne, NJ to John E. Bucko Sr. and Sarah Zamaiter Bucko. He graduated from Bayonne High School as a member of the National Honor Society. John attended New York University and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa. He also attended Tarrant County Community College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force and served during World War II, receiving The Bronze Star. He authored "My Journey to War" for the squadron newsletter which chronicled the 39th squadron's involvement in the war in the Pacific. John was an integral part of the formation of the 39th Association and a loyal member.
He worked as an instructor and supervisor for Western Electric Co., retiring in 1979. He was a member of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Arlington. John was also a member of the American Legion, St. Maria Goretti Leisure Club, and was vice-chairman for 16 years of the Bayonne Housing Authority.
Survivors: Daughter, Caryn Huse and husband, Dale, Dr. Alicia Bucko and husband, Dr. Eduardo Tschen; grandson, Dr. Josh Huse and wife, Heather, Jarrod Monroe and wife, Elizabeth; granddaughter, Danielle Davis and husband, Jonathan; great-grandsons, Jaxson and Jonah Huse, Brooks and Waylon Davis; and great-granddaughters, Sophie Huse and Madeline and Moorea Davis.
