John Hayden Christie of Arlington, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2025, and entered into the Kingdom of Heaven to join his loving wife, Carol, and beloved son, Dennis.
To pay a special tribute to John, the family requests red, white, or blue attire if you would like. Donations instead of flowers can be made to one of the charities listed below or your favorite animal rescue.
John was born to James and Agnes Christie in Pensacola, Florida, on November 15, 1928. He married Carol J. Christie on December 30, 1950. John and Carol were married for 67 years.
After receiving his Bachelor’s Degree from Mount Saint Mary’s University, John joined the U.S. Navy to serve in the Korean War. Upon return, he earned his Master’s in Business Administration from New York University.
John worked for American Airlines for 25 years. During his time there, he helped produce the American Way magazine, which could be found in the seatback of every American Airlines flight. He later worked as a contract manager and established new destination routes for the airline, both across the country and around the world. He was proud of his work, loved to travel, and learn new things.
After retirement from American Airlines, John became a volunteer extraordinaire. He delivered Meals on Wheels for over 30 years and served the USO for 5,000 hours. For the past several years, he has proudly volunteered for the American Airlines Fallen Heroes Group, where he met the caskets of fallen service members when they arrived at DFW airport. John was a devout Catholic and volunteered countless hours for his parish as an Eucharistic Minister. In his spare time, he became a talented, self-taught artist and loved to give his works to others. He was a generous man who never met a stranger and loved to tell jokes.
John’s love for his family was beyond description. Before having children of their own, Carol and John were known as the “fun aunt and uncle.” They were the best parents and grandparents.
John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol, and son Dennis H. Christie, along with his parents, James and Agnes Christie. He is survived by his eldest son, Terrence J. Christie, and daughter-in-law Lisa M. Christie of Helotes, Texas; daughter Nora C. Puckett, son-in-law Dr. Frederic C. Puckett, granddaughter Penelope C. Puckett, and grandson Frederic (Eric) H. Puckett of Ennis, Texas. John is also survived by 6 nieces and 5 nephews.
