A life well lived is a life deserving of celebration, and it is with profound love and respect that we honor the memory of John Brem. Born on October 19, 1942, to Morris and Agnes Brem, in Mount Vernon, Texas where John, forever a ‘basic guy’ developed a lifelong appreciation for the simple things in life. John and his family moved to Arlington in 1949, where he later graduated from Arlington High School in 1960 and from Arlington State College in 1964. John, a consummate patriot, joined the Air Force Reserves and trained as a firefighter, which is funny if you knew how much he enjoyed a good fire. He retired after 30 years in public education. He was a wonderful husband, father and all-around family man who loved all creatures, great and small, but especially his dogs and was a devoted caretaker and rescuer of them all. John passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, but his memory will live on. John is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nancy Rinehart Brem, his daughter and son-in-law Mary and Cody Day, his grandson Taylor Day, his brother M.D. Brem, his nephews, Ben Duff and his wife Monica, William Duff and his wife Annette, and his niece Margaret Duff Gilbert, as well as many great nephews and nieces.
As we gather to celebrate his life, we invite friends and family to join us for a visitation at Wade Family Funeral Home on November 24, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services honoring John, will be held Monday, November 25, 2025 at 9:45 a.m. John will be greatly missed by many, but his spirit will live on in those who knew and loved him – may he rest in peace until we meet again.
