John Bonifert

April 16, 1910 — March 30, 2018

John Bonifert, our beloved Dad, Papa, and Great-Grandpa left this world when God called him Home on March 30, 2018, just 17 days shy of his 108th birthday. Of Hungarian heritage, he was a first generation American on his mother's side. John was born on April 16, 1910 in Chicago, Illinois. He was a successful entrepreneur, inventor, engineer and business owner. John had a mind both creative and analytical; he was a gifted artist who enjoyed painting and as a mechanical engineer worked on the development of several products. Over his wonderful, long life he saw electricity replace gas lighting at his elementary school, and lived through the Roaring 20's, the Great Depression, and two World Wars. He married the love of his life, Helen Yolanda Makert, on Labor Day in 1934. For the next 63 years they were inseparable, raising two children and traveling the world together. John loved reading, music, crafts, spending time with family and friends, and gourmet cooking and baking as well as basking in the sunshine in the garden. A man with the highest values, he was the most kind and gentle soul on this planet. John's life stories will be treasured forever by his daughter Diana Vincenti, and his son Denis Bonifert and wife Judy, granddaughters Laura Vincenti, Christine Vincenti Potosky and husband Robert, Suzanne Altstaetter and husband David, grandsons Michael Bonifert, David Vincenti and wife Terri, and great-grandchildren, including Luke, Ellie, Landon, Gillian and Joshua. John was predeceased by his wife Helen, with whom he is now reunited in Heaven. Helen and John were long-time members of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Arlington Texas and were active in the Leisure Club. His memory is cherished by many church friends and other relatives including John (deceased wife Pat) Berninger, the Sandy (Berninger) and Raymund King family and Jone (Bonifert) Barker and her sister Linda and their families. Our family is very grateful to Dr. Jaradat, DaVita Dialysis Center,Matlock Place Nursing Home and Compassionate Care Hospice (nurse Julia) for their loving care. Memorial Service place, date and time to be announced later. Private Burial at St. Maria Goretti Cremains Garden. In lieu of flowers, please give to your favorite charity.
