John Arthur Heitmeyer, 77, passed away on July 8, 2023, in Fort Worth, Texas with his wife and family by his side.
John was born on December 17, 1945, in Dallas, Texas to Fred B. Heitmeyer and Elizabeth Kautz Heitmeyer. John graduated from the University of Texas Austin in 1969 with a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering. He began his career as an Aerospace Engineer with General Dynamics at NASA working on Skylab missions. John married Debra Bryant on July 5th, 2007, in Houston, Texas.
John was best known for his collection of sports, space memorabilia, and fishing.
John is survived by Debra Bryant Heitmeyer – wife, Fort Worth; Christine Roberts – daughter, South Carolina; Kathrine Smith – daughter, Austin; Jacqueline Schaefer – Step Daughter, Temecula, CA; Grandchildren: Joey, Cathryn, and Delaney Roberts, Luke Ferguson, Jamison, and Gage Smith, Bryant, Greyson, Jackson, and Leyton Schaefer.
John was preceded in death by his father, Fred B. Heitmeyer; and mother, Elizabeth Kautz Boelter.
The service for John Heitmeyer will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023, at 6:00 pm at Wade Family Funeral Home Chapel, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington, Texas.
Family and friends are welcome to attend viewing on Friday, July 14, 2023, from 5:00 to 6:00 pm at Wade Funeral Home.
Directly following the service, the family would like to invite everyone to a reception in Belle Hall at Wade Funeral Home from 7:00 – 9:00 pm.
The family will have a private interment service at Moore Memorial Gardens, Arlington, Texas.
Contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or International Fellowship of Christians and Jews.
