Joe Mark Choate, 67, died November 22, 2018 in Arlington, Texas. Mark was born July 19, 1951 in Paris, Texas to Joe and Yvonne Choate. He was raised in Cooper, Texas and experienced a childhood he described as “Mayberry.” He graduated from Cooper High School in 1969, attended Texas A&M Commerce (ETSU) where he was a member of the trombone choir and active in the Baptist Student Union and graduated in 1973. He received a Master of Church Music degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth.
Mark served as Minister of Music at Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Commerce, Calvary Baptist Church in Gainesville, and Oates Drive Baptist Church in Mesquite before beginning an over twenty year career with Texas Health and Human Services.
In 1974 Mark married Eleene Davis of Wills Point whom he met in “Life of Christ” class in college. They were blessed with a daughter, Marleene Elizabeth. Mark and Eleene were married almost 45 years.
Mark is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Yvonne Choate, grandparents Bill and Bonnie Estes, Horace Meadlin, precious granddaughter Eva Elizabeth, and parents-in-law John and Opal Davis, brother-in-law B.P. Kennedy, brother and sister-in-law Horace and Lynda Logan. He is survived by wife, Eleene, daughter Marleene, son-in-law Josh, grandchildren Mia and Caleb, brother Bill Choate (Jana), sister Lynda Matthews (George), sisters-in-law Peggy Kennedy and Joan Groom, brothers-in-law Douglas Davis (JoAnn), Richard Davis (Gretta), numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.
Mark was a man of great integrity, unwavering faith in his Savior and Lord Jesus Christ, loyal to family and friends, loved all things Alamo, and was blessed with a beautiful singing voice. His favorite and cherished times were being with his family and especially his beloved daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren.
The family is grateful for the staff at Arlington Memorial Hospital Intensive Care Unit and physicians who provided such wonderful care and especially to Dr. Winston Chan and Dr. Kyle Roberts, and to the staff of Community Hospice.
A celebration of Mark's life will be at Wade Family Funeral Home, Monday, November 26, 2018 at 3 p.m. with visitation one hour before the service.
