Joe was born December 20, 1937 at home in Hagerman (now Pottsboro), Texas, to Clyde and Ramah (Jacobs) Louis.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Glen, and his infant son, Jeffrey Keith.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Carol (Chitwood); his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Jon Hoffman and his son and daughter-in-law, Matt and Natalie Louis. Also survived by sisters Melba Briggs, Judy Brown, Linda Beckham, Patsy Smith and brother Earnie. Joe was blessed with four grandchildren who brought him much joy: Jacob, Leah and Anna Hoffman, and Gibson Louis.
Joe graduated from Denison High School at the age of 17 and worked in the printing industry his entire life. From a young age, Joe was a hard and conscientious worker with a fearless, optimistic spirit. After working his way up through various print manufacturing jobs in Denison and then later in Dallas/Fort Worth, he eventually talked his way into sales, where he was given the low performing and less ideal territory of Fort Worth. His tenacity, personality and intimate knowledge of the printing process contributed to his success, where he repeatedly broke sales records. In 1980, he became an entrepreneur by starting his own printing distributorship, Louis Business Products, which Carol joined early on, and eventually a manufacturing division, Louis Printing Services.
After 27 years, they retired in 2005 and enjoyed traveling and spending time with their grandchildren. Joe had many friends and was well loved for his wit, generosity, mentorship and love for his family. He had a strong Christian faith and we rest in the knowledge he is now in the arms of his Lord and Savior.
A celebration of Joe's life will be held 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 12, 2021 in the sanctuary at First Baptist Church of Arlington.
