ARLINGTON-Joanne “Jo” Elizabeth Johnston passed away peacefully March 5, 2017. Services: A Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, March 11 at 10:30 am at The First United Methodist Church of Arlington with interment at Parkdale Cemetery and a reception at Arlington Women's Club. Dr. Mosser will officiate. All are welcome to attend, visitation will be held at Wade Family Funeral Home on Friday, March 10, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please send donations for the Jo Johnston's Memorial Scholarship Fund to the Arlington Women's Club at 1515 W Abram St, Arlington, TX 76013 or online at https://www.youcaring.com/jojohnston. Jo was born Sept. 4, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois, to Clara Elizabeth and Harry W. Bohnett, Sr. She graduated with honors from Northwestern University in accounting and was an active member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. In 1953, she married the love of her life George Johnston. Shortly after marrying, they moved to Arlington, becoming part of a growing community. Together they enjoyed raising three beautiful girls. While her husband's job kept him busy traveling around the world, Jo established her mark in the business world as a real estate broker for over 30 successful years. It was her great privilege and passion to be able to serve her community. She was a Charter Member and past president of the Arlington Woman's Club, past president of the Preschool Association, member and past president of the Arlington Art's League, past chairman of the Arlington's Fourth of July Parade, First United Methodist Sunday school teacher, Girl Scout Leader for Troop 602, president of the Arlington Garden Club, a member and past president of the Arlington Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, past president of Swift Elementary PTA, charter member and past president of Bailando, and a member of Encore Club. Survivors: Jo is survived by her husband, George “Bub” Johnston; daughters, Susan (Richard) Alvarado, Alice Johnston, Georgann (Charlie) Price; and grandsons Chris (Shyla) Magee, Duncan Price, and Colin (Madeline) Price; and great-grandson, Bryce Magee.
