JoAnn Campbell Griffin passed away peacefully at her Arlington, Texas home on July 12, 2024, with her devoted husband of 46 years, Mike Griffin, by her side. JoAnn was born on October 26, 1947, in Raleigh, North Carolina and was the daughter of Carlton L. Campbell Sr. and Elma Morris Campbell.
JoAnn’s early life was filled with love and family. The whole Campbell clan could be found in the summers at White Lake, North Carolina and other times on the coast and in the mountains of North Carolina. JoAnn’s love of music could be heard about anytime you were visiting her home on Campbell Road. She took piano lessons at an early age and played the organ at her church for many years. Her love of music was also shared when she would sing in church with her two cousins. She attended North Carolina Wesleyan College in Rocky Mount, North Carolina and Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina. After working in Raleigh, JoAnn moved to Dallas, Texas and was working at Lockwood Greene Architects and Engineers when she met the love of her life. Mike and JoAnn fell in love, married, and began their life journey together. While Mike and JoAnn made their home in Arlington, JoAnn always missed the huge trees and the cooler weather in North Carolina as well as the family ties “back home”.
JoAnn was predeceased by her daughter Amanda Griffin, her father Carlton Campbell Sr., and mother Elma Campbell.
She is survived by her loving husband Mike Griffin, her son Ben Griffin, brother Carlton Campbell Jr. (Margaret), niece Marti Leone (Kirk), nephew David Campbell, and the many cousins from the Campbell Road families.
JoAnn leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, love of God and family, and a never-ending desire to serve. She was deeply loved and will be forever in our hearts.
