Joan Virginia Varner

Our mother, Joan Varner, was a beautiful and giving individual, always going out of her way to make a person feel special. Joan never met a stranger. She treated everyone like she would wish to be treated. Joan always had a smile or positive words of encouragement toward anyone she met. She could turn dark days into the brightest with her sweet smile. She had many friends. Joan might not be able to tell you now but she valued each friendship to the fullest. Joan would tell you that any problem could be solved or goal obtained through prayer and hard work. She was a domestic engineer as she called herself, and she was perfect and accomplished at doing her work: cooking, cleaning, but not so much at organizing if you ever saw her desk. She loved her family and was always looking to please but her love of God and the Catholic Church was her greatest love. She was a member of St Mathew's Catholic Church for 51 years where she shared her time, talents, and treasures faithfully. She loved playing games with her grandchildren and her great grandchildren and tried to turn everything into a learning experience without the kids knowing that they were learning. Joan loved reading, gardening, and cooking for her family as that was her greatest joy. She came from a generation that lived through the depression and could find a use for many things most people would throw away and then donate what was left to the recycling drive to raise money for the church. Momma will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Her voice will remain in our hearts as the years go by for we know what she would say to us, and we will keep it with us until our dying days. The family of Joan Varner sincerely appreciates all the love, prayer, and comforting encouragement that all have shared with us during our time of grief. We want to thank everyone that helped us celebrate Momma's life.
