Joan Coats Griffin passed away on September 5, 2024, in Arlington, Texas. She was born on October 29, 1939, in Fort Worth, to Harvey Pete Coats and Mildred Marie Burdette Coats. Joan had a passion for dancing and was known for her vibrant, lively spirit. She was deeply loved by her friends and family, who cherished her dry sense of humor and her ability to keep everyone laughing.
A generous soul, Joan raised two sons on a waitress's salary, a testament to her strength and dedication. A lifelong resident of Arlington, she was affectionately known as "Mustang Joanie" and once heroically saved the lives of her nieces and nephews at Lake Arlington.
Her sons cared for her until their passing, and she passed with a broken heart, ready for heaven. Joan was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mac Griffin; her brother, Butch Coats; her sister, Peggy O'Neil; and her sons, Randy and Ryan Collier. She is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
