Joan Claire Edwards Sodowsky Joan Claire Edwards Sodowsky ARLINGTON -- Joan Claire Edwards Sodowsky, 66, passed away peacefully and went to be with Jesus on Sunday September 20, 2015. Funeral: 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Interment: 1:00 p.m. Friday at Moore Memorial Gardens, Arlington. Visitation: one hour prior the service at the funeral home. Joan was born on August 26, 1949 in Independence, Missouri to Harold Hartley Edwards and Claire Belle Jordan Edwards. Joan was 4 yrs old when her family moved to Arlington, TX so her dad could go to work for General Motors. She graduated from Arlington High School in 1967 and then went to U.T.A. in Arlington to study Sociology. In 1971 Joan graduated from college and went to work for the Dallas/Ft.Worth Airport Administration as a Secretary. She married Bruce Alan Sodowsky in 1978 which was the love of her life until he passed away in 2001. In 2003 Joan went to work for Arlington Memorial Hospital as an Administrative Assistant in the Education Dept. She made many friends there and was loved by all. Joan retired in 2013. Joan had a quick sense of humor and loved her family and friends. She also had a great love for animals, she loved her dog and two cats. Her family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at Arlington Cancer Center which helped her thru the treatments, and Community Hospice, especially Greg, April and Ginger. Also, a big thanks to her wonderful and caring caregivers Cheryl Cooper and Sherry Burrows which treated her like their family! A special thanks to her friends Jim and Judy McBride and Melinda Nolan for their love and all they did for Joan during her illness to make sure all of her needs were met. She is preceded in death by her husband Bruce Sodowsky, her parents Harold and Claire Edwards, her brother Lynn Edwards, and her Uncle Wallace J. Bennett. Survivors: Her great niece Kayla Edwards, her Aunt Carol Bennett, cousins Greg Bennett and Roy Alvin Bynum.
