ARLINGTON -- Jimmy Park, age 83, was born in Dallas, TX, raised in the Meadowbrook area of Ft. Worth, and lived for over 60 years on his dairy farm with his Beloved, faithful wife, Bette, in Arlington, TX. He passed peacefully from this life to the next in his sleep on Saturday, September 14, 2013, after a long struggle with Alzheimers.
Memorial Service: Friday, September 20, at 2 p.m. Tate Springs Baptist Church, Arlington. Visitation: Thursday evening from 6 to 8 at Wade Family Funeral Home, Arlington.
Jimmy started raising chickens as a small boy and went on to love and work with animals his entire life. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict, and was honorably discharged to come home and save his dairy farm. He was as big and strong and as stubborn as the bulls he wrangled. Jimmy was a man rooted in faith and family. He had a brilliant engineering mind and a keen insight into the truth of situations. He had a second career of architectural engineering as he installed hundreds of church steeples all over the U.S. Jimmy left a legacy of rugged determination, perseverance, and solution-focused ideals for those who knew, loved, and were affected by him. He was an original. He was robust and adventurous and insatiably inquisitive. His outrageous humor and ubiquitous toothpicks will be greatly missed.
James "Jimmy" Park is survived by his very patient, beloved wife of 62 years, Bette Pace Park; 5 daughters, 6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and 2 brothers.
