ARLINGTON -- Jessie McFadin Tickle, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her home at the age of 91 on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Interment: Parkdale Cemetery, Arlington. Visitation: Noon to service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Jessie was born Jan. 21, 1922, to Harve and Jessie McFadin. She lived all her life in Arlington and was proud to be a third-generation member of the McFadin pioneer family. She attended Arlington High School and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Grand Prairie. Jessie married Henry Tickle on March 24, 1940, in Purdon. She worked as a waitress for many years in several Arlington restaurants: Rainbow Grill, Arlington Coffee Shop, Mooreheads, La Casita, Arlington Steak House, and Candlelight Inn.
She enjoyed gardening, camping and cooking for family and friends.
Jessie was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; daughter, Sandra Tickle; and son, Darrell Tickle.
The family would like to thank Community Hospice, especially Tammy, Melissa, Ginger and Sharon, for the compassionate care they gave to Jessie and her family.
Survivors: Son, Jerry Tickle and wife, Charlotte; daughters, Dianne Garner and Judy Kirby, all of Arlington; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Ethel Hinton; and sister-in-law, Julia Cornwell.
