Jerry Harrison Parks, beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on January 8, 2024, at the age of 88. Born on November 3, 1936, in Munday, Texas, Jerry brought joy and warmth into the lives of those who were fortunate to know him.

Jerry served is country with honor as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. His commitment to service carried on into his personal life too. He earned the distinction of Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus in Arlington, Texas.

Jerry was a man of simplicity and kindness, always exuding a quiet and calming presence. Every morning, he would greet his wife, Betty Ann, with a cup of coffee in bed, starting their day with love and tenderness. He cherished his family deeply and created incredible memories through their many adventures together. Jerry had a passion for traveling and enjoyed cruises to various destinations, his favorite being Jamaica. Whether it was exploring the mountains of Jimez, New Mexico, or soaking up the sun on a tropical beach, Jerry found true happiness in experiencing new places and creating everlasting bonds with his loved ones.

When he wasn’t traversing the world, Jerry took pleasure in the simple joys of life. He had a knack for cooking and loved spending time behind the grill, mastering the art of barbecue. Friends and family would often gather at his charming pavilion-style house, admiring not only his culinary skills but also his impeccable craftsmanship. Jerry was a handyman by nature, and his expertise ensured that his home was a haven of comfort and beauty.

Beyond his skills and accomplishments, Jerry will be remembered most for his compassionate and gentle nature. He possessed a heart of gold and had an exceptional ability to listen and provide guidance without ever raising his voice. His genuine care and wisdom made him a cherished mentor to many.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Guy William Parks Sr. and Ruby Parks, as well as his brother, Guy William Parks Jr. and sister Mary Katherine Forshaw.

Jerry leaves behind a legacy of love and memories that will forever live on in the hearts of his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Betty Ann Parks, who stood by his side through thick and thin. He will also be deeply missed by his cherished children, Mike Patton ad Marcy, Carol Ford, Laura Parks, Jerry Parks, and sister, Barbara Adcock and husband Rufus. He also leaves to mourn his loss grandchildren Stuart and wife Kalin and Haley Patton and Jacob, Christina and Paul Ford and wife Marianne and Kaitlin Nuth and Ryan Parks, great grandchildren Colten Ford and Cooper Patton.

There will be a rosary Wednesday, January 31, at 9:45 am at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Arlington. A funeral mass will follow from 10:00 am. A graveside service to celebrate Jerry’s life and service will be held at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery on January 31, 2024, at 1:30 pm. a time for family, friends, and loved ones to share stories, laughter, and tears as they pay their final respects to a man who touched so many lives.
Jerry Harrison Parks will forever remain in our hearts, and his spirit will continue to guide us. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
