Jappy Dickson was born in Miami, Oklahoma the eleventh child of Hugh and Amanda (Berry) Dickson. He lived in Oklahoma and Kansas during his childhood years. He enjoyed playing football and boxing. Jappy was a Golden Gloves Champion in Kansas as a young man. He was drafted into the Army and served during the Korean War. He coached boxers as a part of his job in the Army. When Jappy returned home to Kansas, he began an illustrious career as a salesman.
Jappy married Velta (Crick) Dickson in November of 1951. They adopted two children, Sharon and Dean Dickson and were then blessed with Jappy Joe Jr and Matt Dickson. The Dicksons moved to Quincy, Illinois to open a Cadillac/Oldsmobile dealership which they ran until the early 1990s.
Jappy moved to Texas in 1995 to become an Automobile Dealership Broker where he remained until his death. He enjoyed spending time at Metro Flex Gym and bodybuilding became a way of life for Jappy for many years. He entered and won multiple competitions in competitive bodybuilding as well as power lifting.
Jappy has always been an active man. He kept himself busy with bird dogs, horses, hunting, and running. He had a zest for life and entertaining others. Jappy could always make anyone feel right at home.
He is survived in death by his soul mate Sopida Puwakul, his son Matt Dickson and wife Angela, his grandson, Skye Dickson and his great-grandchildren Truman, Skylar, and Landon Dickson.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Velta Dickson and his son, Jappy Joe Dickson, Jr.
