Jannette Tucker Duncan, 98, passed from us peacefully and entered her heavenly home Saturday, February 5th, 2022
Jannette, and her identical twin, Annette were born April 22, 1923 in Hatchell, Texas, to Mord S. Tucker and Lovie Texas Bales Tucker; Jannette being “eight lousy minutes older” than her sister. They grew up in Winters and became Lion’s Club Sweethearts; singing and traveling with that organization.
The Tucker Twins, with Jan on guitar and Ann on the mandolin, performed for audiences ranging from the Texas Senate to the 1938 World’s Fair to Havana, Cuba. Their music and moxie won the attention of Pat M. Neff, former governor of Texas and President of Baylor, who offered them a full scholarship to become singing ambassadors for Baylor.
After graduation, in 1944, they were hired to teach in Arlington, a community of 7,200, at AHS and Southside. They decided to pack away their National guitar and mandolin and did not perform as The Tucker Twins again. Jan continued to teach after Ann married Gil Sanders and left Arlington.
Jan married R.C. (Bob) Duncan in 1947. They enjoyed 55 years of marriage and were supporters of all things Arlington; the college, the schools, various organizations, non-profits and their church. Though they traveled all over the world, Arlington was always home. Jan was a member of the Athenians and the Arlington Woman’s Club. She was always looking for a way to bless others. Jan and Bob were charter members of Park Row Church of Christ where she taught Bible Classes and VBS for years. She supported and taught during the first years of what is now Park Row Christian Academy.
Jan was a beloved teacher, a loyal friend, and by all accounts, the ultimate fun mom. Later she became the ultimate proud and loving GranJan of her grandchildren and great grandones.

Duncan and wife, Jennifer, of Clifton; DeeDee Elliott and husband, Randy Elliott, of Arlington; Grandchildren: Travis English (Elizabeth) of Fort Worth; Lacey Franklin (Rob) of Pantego, J.D.
