Jan Johnson Hanysak, 68, passed from this life into the hands of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, May 8, 2017. Service: A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 15, at St. Barnabas United Methodist Church, 5011 W. Pleasant Ridge Rd., Arlington. There will also be a celebration of her life in North Michigan where Jan and her family spent many summers at their summer home on Torch Lake. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Easter Seals of North Texas or The United Methodist Church in Mancelona, Michigan. Jan was born the oldest of three children on December 18, 1948 in Detroit, Michigan. While still an infant Jan's family moved to Mancelona, Michigan, where she spent her adolescence. Jan graduated from Mancelona High School and then attended Central Michigan University. There she met her future husband, Denny Paul Hanysak. They were married on August 21, 1971, moving to Arlington, Texas in 1976, where she was a lifelong resident. Jan was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and fun aunt. She was always focused on going above and beyond to insure the very best for her children. She had a sense of self and independence that are so rare and so necessary in a mother. Jan was a feisty woman who believed in speaking her mind, she believed no one else can do it for you. For a number of years, Jan was an active advocate for formerly United Cerebral Palsy of Fort Worth now merged into Easter Seals of North Texas. She was a past recipient of the annual “Hats off to Mothers” award from that organization. Jan was also a very active member of St. Barnabas United Methodist Church of Arlington for the past 40 years. Jan was predeceased by her brother, Scott Johnson of Mancelona, Michigan. Survivors: Husband of 45 years, Denny Hanysak; children, Bryan Hanysak and wife, Kimberly, Kyle Hanysak and Aaron Hanysak; grandchildren, Luke Hanysak and Heath Hanysak; parents, Don and Ruth Johnson; sister, Laurie Allison and husband, Mike; and an abundance of nieces and nephews.
