Janis Elinor Schilling of Arlington, TX passed into the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on August 26, 2023.
Jan was born on June 8, 1937 in Buffalo, NY to Edward and Edna Bogold. She attended the University of the State of New York and received her Registered Nursing License in 1959.
She met her future husband Ray who was teaching her younger brother piano lessons at the time. They married in 1959 and had three children Mark, Jeffrey and Barbara. Ray worked for American Airlines and the family transferred to the DFW area in 1977 to continue his successful career.
Jan had her own lengthy career as a healthcare professional working at Buffalo General Hospital. She also worked for the American Cancer Society providing hospice care and eventually owned her own business, SouthWest HealthSource, providing CPR Instructor training in association with the American Heart Association.
She was an outstanding cook (specializing in desserts), enjoyed gardening and was an avid reader, evidenced by her collection of books, which rivals the Library of Congress. She enjoyed sewing, so much so that her children sported Jan’s original line of clothing during their early school years. She was a big fan of the Buffalo Bills, despite the state she resided in, and was a huge dog lover and friend to all animals. She enjoyed hosting summer pool parties at her home with her husband Ray and loved vacationing in Hawaii with her family.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Edna, her husband Ray and her granddaughter Samantha.
Jan is survived by her son Mark and his wife Vanessa of Euclid, Ohio; her son Jeff and his wife Karla of Rowlett, Texas; her daughter Barbara of Arlington, Texas; and her two grandsons Michael and Nicholas.
Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at Wade Funeral Home in Arlington, TX.
Memorial gifts may be made in Jan’s name to the Farrell Animal Hospital at 2890 W Pioneer Pkwy, Arlington, TX 76013 or to the American Heart Association (click here to donate now).
