Janet Allen Cherry, 86, of Arlington, Texas, passed away January 16, 2021, a mere sixteen days after the death of her husband of over 63 years, R. Kent Cherry.
Janet was born April 28, 1934 in Fort Worth, Texas to Isaac Fletcher Allen and Minnie Lee Allen together with her identical twin sister, Joyce. In her early years, the family lived in Dallas and later moved to Grand Prairie. She and her twin sister were Grand Prairie Gopher cheerleaders. After graduating from high school in 1952, she attended Arlington State College and The University of North Texas, where she earned a degree in education. She later taught second grade.
She married R. Kent Cherry of Arlington in 1957, and they had three children, seven grandchildren and six (number 7 on the way) great grandchildren. She became a real estate agent with The Connection in 1980 and later got her broker's license. She also worked for Henry S. Miller where she partnered with Mary Perry. Together they moved to RE/MAX Pinnacle Group Cathy Shaffer Team.
Janet was predeceased by her husband R. Kent Cherry, her parents, two sisters, brother Charles Allen, and her grandson Brennan. She is survived by her twin sister, Joyce Hambrick of Casper Wyoming; three children, Karen (Brad) Cox, Kurt Cherry and Kathy Atkinson; her grandchildren, Chelsea (Ben) Allen, Cameron (Ryan) Hughes, Reagan Atkinson, Rush (Megan) Atkinson, Hayley Cox, and Carley Cherry; her great grandchildren, Brooks, Emma and Parker Allen, Kate and Kent Hughes and Bowen Atkinson; and nine nephews, their children and grandchildren.

Janet and Kent's remains will be buried in a private ceremony at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Arrangements are by Wade Family Funeral Home.
