Jane Ellie Mansfield (née Killian) was born on September 28, 1933. She was the only child of Oscar Leander Killian and Irma Mae Barnes Killian.
Jane was born in Fort Worth, TX, and was a lifelong resident of Arlington. She graduated from Arlington High School and attended college at Southern Methodist University, where she became a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. During her time at S.M.U, she met her future husband, William Halleck Mansfield III. The couple had four children named Jane, Bob, Bill, and Sarah.
Jane loved to read. She was a lover of the arts and an active member of the Arlington community. She was the runner’s up for Little Miss Arlington and worked for the Arlington Independent School District in the Arts Department. She enjoyed her time as President of the Arlington Women of Rotary organization and was a lifetime member of Arlington Woman’s Club. She was also employed at The Upstairs Gallery following her retirement from the school district. Throughout her life, Jane maintained close contact with her many childhood friends. She passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2022.
She is survived by her four children, Jane Mansfield, Bob Mansfield, Bill Mansfield and his wife, Katie, and Sarah Benton and her husband, Tony. She had five grandchildren, Christopher, Rebekah, Jonathan, James and his wife, Menzi, and Spencer and his wife, Margaret: and one great-grandchild, James William.
She will be laid to rest at Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery on Tuesday, August 23, 2022. If you wish, donations may be made to the Arlington Woman’s Club.
