James Hiett "Jimmie" Goodwin

ARLINGTON -- James Hiett "Jimmie" Goodwin, 88, passed away Friday, Aug. 21, 2015. Memorial service: 11 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, 313 N. Center St., Arlington, with Dr. David Mosser officiating. Interment: 9:30 a.m. Friday in Moore Memorial Gardens, Arlington. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First United Methodist Church of Arlington or a charity of choice. Jimmie was a member of a pioneer Arlington family, born on Nov. 22, 1926. He was number six of the eight children in the V.H. "Happy" Goodwin family. Jimmie grew up and attended school in Arlington and graduated from Arlington High School, class of 1944. During World War II, he served in the Army in the Asia-Pacific theater. He graduated from TCU in 1950. Jimmie married Martha E. "Beth" Cox at First United Methodist Church of Arlington. They were married for 60 years; she preceded him in death. Jimmie was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church of Arlington. Six generations of the Goodwin family have been or are members of this congregation. He served in many program areas of the church. He was a longtime member and teacher of the Wesley Progressors Class. He loved his church and the many associations in his church family. Survivors: Daughters, Martha Coburn and husband, Steve, and Virginia Edmundson; sons, James H. Goodwin Jr and wife, Tonia, and John W. Goodwin; brothers, V.H. Goodwin Jr. and Don Goodwin; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Wade Family Funeral Home Arlington, 817-274-9233
