James “Jim” Sandison Howie, 86, passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2017 in Dallas.
Funeral: 4:00 p.m. Saturday, June 17, at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Visitation: 3-4 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorials: Memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society and Lymphoma Foundation.
Jim was born on September 30, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois to Harry Hull Howie and Marcia McKay Howie. He graduated from Washington and Lee High School in Arlington, Virginia in 1948 and was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Jim graduated from the University of Virginia in 1956 where he was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity.
He worked in the bakery division at Union Steel Products in Albion, Michigan. He established the Howie and Green Association where he was a longtime manufacturer representative for restaurant equipment.
A resident of Arlington, Texas since 1985, he was a member of the Arlington Gem and Mineral Club, American Legion, and the Arlington Senior Men's Golf Association.
Jim was preceded in death by his first wife of 30 years, Ann J. Howie in 1984; and his second wife of 30 years, Wilma Wallace Howie in 2014.
Survivors: Sons, Jim S. Howie and wife, Karen, John Howie and wife, Jane, and Newell Wallace and wife, Lucretia; daughters, Mary Ann Harpe and husband, Preston Keith, and Anne James; 13 grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends.
