James Richard Hendrix, 99, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2023 in Arlington, Texas.
James was born March 15, 1924 in Arlington, Texas to Johnie M. and Myrtie M. Goodwin Hendrix. He graduated from Poly High School in Fort Worth and then enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served during World War II. When he was honorably discharged from the Army, James enrolled in the University of Texas at Austin where he went on to earn a BSME degree. While there, he was initiated into the Tau Beta Pi and Pi Tau Sigma Honorary Engineering Fraternities. It was also there that James met and married his first wife, Mildred Maserang.
In 1948, James went to work for the Oil Well Division of U.S. Steel Corporation. After 38 years of loyal service, he retired as Chief Engineer, Pumps. James was a member of SPE, API, ASME and had a PE License in Texas. He was also a member of the Lake Highlands United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge.
James was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Mildred Lucille Maserang Hendrix; son Ricky Ernest Hendrix; daughter Deborah Mayher; sister Frances Fox and her husband J.P.
He is survived by his second wife Georgia Hendrix and her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; son Daniel R Hendrix and his wife Jane; grandchildren R.D. Hendrix, M. J. Billings and A.J. Billings; Ashley Creamer and her husband William, and Blake Hendrix and four great grandchildren.
