James Michael Richardson

James Michael Richardson, 83, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2023 in Arlington, Texas after a courageous battle with Heart Disease which was complicated by COVID.

Mike was born in Dallas, Texas on September 11, 1939 to Charles Jack Richardson and Mary Ruth Malone Richardson. He grew up in Dallas and it was there that he met Etta Hendon. They were married in 1962 and remained married until her death in 1987. While attending a Seniors Dance in 2009, Mike met Sherri Long and for the last 14 years, they shared life together.

Mike was a member of Pleasantview Baptist Church since December 2000 and after a 40-year career with Spring Engineers, he retired in January 2012.

Mike loved to attend bluegrass festivals and he especially loved Gospel Music. He was a smooth dancer and particularly loved country western dancing, the Texas 3-Step and the Waltz.

Mike enjoyed riding bicycles all across the Unites States and for more than 20 years he rode an average of more than 5,000 miles per year. He also rode a Harley Davidson motorcycle and was a lifelong member of the Christian Motorcycle Association. He especially enjoyed the opportunity that afforded him to share the gospel to men incarcerated inside prisons.

Humorous and low-key, Mike never met a stranger. He would help anybody without expecting anything in return. Whether it was friends from church or whoever, Mike enjoyed visiting with people because he genuinely loved them. Perhaps the best thing that can be said about Mike was that he always spread God’s word by being a good friend and a real comfort to those in need.

Mike is survived by daughters Mikalan Cawley (husband Mike) and Joetta Teran (husband Raul); brother Bill Richardson of Arlington; grandson Michael Teran and granddaughter Rachel Teran as well as countless friends and church family.
