ARLINGTON -- James "Jim" Milton Highfill Jr., 76, passed away Monday, May 12, 2014, in Arlington.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Friday at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 2100 N. Davis Drive, Arlington, with the Rev. Msgr. Joseph S. Scantlin celebrant. Interment: Calvary Hill Cemetery, Dallas. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington, with a rosary at 7 p.m.
Jim was born March 23, 1938, in Boonville, Mo., to James Milton Highfill and Helen Mary Belcher Highfill. As a child, he moved to Kansas City and learned the printing business from his grandparents. The family moved to Texas in 1949. Jim graduated from Arlington High School in 1956 and married Linda Lou Ledenham in September. Together they founded JMH Printing Co., which will celebrate 50 years in service in 2015 and is presently in operation under the management of his son, Milt Highfill.
In addition to printing, Jim had a passion for flying and trains. He was a true people-person and took an interest in everyone he met. He was well known for his sense of humor and storytelling. His presence was always promptly recognized and greeted with smiles and laughter wherever he went.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Linda, in 2000; and his parents.
Survivors: His loving wife of 11 years, Catherine; sons, Milt (Paula) and Michael; and grandchildren, Blair (Chris), Milt IV, Mary, Madison and Mason.
