James Howard Davenport entered fully into the presence of his LORD and Savior on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, in Mansfield, TX. He was 74.
Jim was born in Fort Stockton, TX, on January 25, 1947, to Thelma and Alfred Davenport. He graduated from Fort Stockton High School in 1965, and attended Angelo State College for two years on a basketball scholarship. He married Marilyn Alice Money in 1969. Jim was employed as a Quality Inspector and Supervisor at Bell Helicopter/Textron for 38 years until he retired in 2012.
Jim's Christian faith was an essential part of his life. He was a member of Lake Church in Arlington, TX. He was a wonderful husband and father and took excellent care of his wife and family. He adored his grandkids, who lovingly referred to him as "Pop". Jim enjoyed traveling, being with his family, and listening to southern gospel music, including the Cathedrals and the Gaither Vocal Band.
Survivors include his Wife, Marilyn Davenport; Son, Shane (Sally) Davenport; Daughter, Stacy (David) Adjei; Sister, Sherry (Al) Hooper; Grandchildren, Faith Davenport, T.J. Davenport, Bella Davenport, Joshua Adjei, Marylyn Adjei, and Caleb Adjei.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 5, 2021, from 6 - 8 pm at Wade Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Pkwy., Arlington, TX. A private service for family members will be held at a later date.
