Thursday, March 5, 2020, James Harvey, loving husband and father of four children, passed away at age 81. Visitation with friends and family will be 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1927 SW Green Oaks Blvd, Arlington, TX 76017, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. The family requests no flowers be sent. James requested donations to The Saint Vincent DePaul Society of St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, March 12th at 11:00 a.m. a St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be on Monday, March 16th at 10:15 a.m. at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211 James was born on September 8, 1938 in Osceola, Missouri to William and Agnes (Jones) Harvey. He received his Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Missouri, Rolla in 1961, was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and served 2 years on active duty in Alabama. He then worked as an engineer for 31 years at General Motors in Warren, Ohio. James married Mary Harvey on August 19, 1961 and raised two sons and two daughters. He was ordained as Deacon in the Catholic Church on December 3, 1995 and served the Church for 24 years at Saint William Parish in Warren, Ohio and Saint Joseph Parish in Arlington, Texas James was deeply spiritual with a passion for sports and serving others. He spent much of his free time coaching his children's sports teams, officiating at swimming meets and as an umpire for local youth baseball and softball games. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Delta Sigma Phi, and American Legion and he was known for his quick wit and his kind, compassionate spirit. James was preceded in death by his Mother, Agnes, his father, William, his brother Paul, his sister Charlotte, and his grandson, Karl. He is survived by his wife Mary, their four children, Ken, Doug, Melissa and Michelle, and their grandchildren Kayla, Amelia, Elise, Madison, Emelyn, Hannah, and Janorah.
