James Alan Farr

September 4, 1962 — October 8, 2024

James Alan Farr, born on September 4, 1962, in Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away on October 8, 2024, in Arlington, Texas. James was a man who cherished his family above all and found immense joy in spending time with his three beloved grandchildren, who affectionately called him "JJ." He had a zest for life, especially when it came to travel, with Colorado being his favorite destination. James and his family would retreat to the mountains of Colorado to enjoy skiing, hiking, and making lifelong memories.

James graduated from Air Academy High School in Colorado Springs and later attended Hardin-Simmons University, where he met the love of his life, Kelly. They married on September 15, 1984, and recently celebrated 40 years of marriage. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and service. As a member of First Baptist Church Arlington, James was a deacon, a Sunday School teacher, and part of numerous other church activities.

Growing up in Colorado, James developed a deep love for the outdoors, sports, and music. Throughout high school James sang in the choir and played hockey. As an adult his hobbies included playing in an adult hockey league, where his passion for the sport continued, playing golf, and most recently pickleball. A fan of classic '70s rock 'n' roll, James also loved a good laugh and was known for his quick wit and mastery of one-liners. With his dry, sarcastic sense of humor, James was a master storyteller who could captivate any room.

James loved to grill and frequently hosted gatherings where he could relax with his friends, who meant the world to him. He had a warm and generous heart, always offering practical advice and support to those around him. In addition to being a devoted family man, James was an inventor, holding a patent for software he created during his time at IBM. His career as an Account Manager at Oracle also reflected his hard work and dedication, traits that carried over into every aspect of his life.

James's family will fondly remember the warmth and joy he brought to holidays. Summer memories of swimming and family gatherings will live on in the hearts of his loved ones. His practical wisdom, sharp sense of humor, and unwavering support made him the rock of his family.

James is survived by his mother, June Farr; his beloved wife of 40 years, Kelly Farr; his son, Alex Farr, and wife Morgan; his daughter, Aubrey Hodges, and husband Kris; his brothers, Mike Farr, and wife Patsy, and Randy Farr, and wife Cathi; his sister, Janie Milam, and husband John; and his sister-in-law, Monica Farr; his cherished grandchildren, Harper, Georgia, and Truett. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. James was predeceased by his father, Charles Farr, and his brother, Chris Farr.
