It is with sad heart we as a family announce that Retired Major James "Jim" Powers left this world on June 19, 2018 and has gone to the pain free eternal golf course and fishing hole in heaven. He already made plans to meet his buddies for a foursome and is looking forward to go fishing with his brothers.
Service: 2 pm Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy., Dallas.
Major Jim served his and our great country for 42 years, receiving many awards on and off the battlefield. He also retired from Miller Brewing Company after 25 years. Jim was a strong leader to the American Legion Post 579. He will be missed by his Sunday fellowships with them.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, J.C. Powers; mother, Mildred Irene Powers; and infant son, Jay C. Powers.
Survivors: Wife of 42 years, Maureen “Mo”; son, David Bryan; Daughter, Heather Lynn and husband, Matt; grandchildren, Brandon Tyler, Andrew “Drew” Wade, Avery Kendal and Evan Matthew; brothers, Terry Lynn Powers, Michael Ray Powers, Steven Wayne Powers, and Phillip Lee Powers; and lots of loving relatives and of course his cousins and very special nieces and nephews.
