James Anthony Sansone

James (Jim) Anthony Sansone, 74, resident of Arlington, TX died on Thursday, January 4th, 2024, after a hard-fought fight with cancer. Jim was born December 24th, 1949, to Anthony Joseph Sansone and Florence LaVigne Sansone in Trenton, MI. He left Michigan in 1967 to attend the United States Military Academy, West Point and graduated in 1971. After serving his time in active-duty military he joined the Army Reserves in conjunction with returning to school and obtaining a Master’s in Engineering from The University of Texas in 1978. Upon receipt of his Master’s degree, Jim was hired by General Dynamics in Fort Worth, TX as an Aerospace Engineer. He would go on to work for 30+ years in the Aerospace industry and retire from Lockheed Martin in 2011. Jim also retired from the Army Reserves as a Colonel in 2002.

Jim was a lifelong avid runner, racing all the way up to his battle with cancer. When he was not running, he loved to spend time with his grandchildren or use his engineer’s brain to tinker with something. He greatly enjoyed watching his favorite sports teams on TV, but only if it was on mute since he never liked what the broadcasters had to say.

Jim is survived by his two sons and their spouses, Jason & Amanda Sansone of Oklahoma City, OK and Matt & Rachel Sansone of Houston, TX. He additionally leaves behind two loving grandchildren Emery and Anthony. Also, surviving Jim are his siblings, Diane Sansone Paine of North Richland Hills, TX; Robert (Bob) Sansone of Boise, ID. He is preceded in death by his parents, Anthony & Florence Sansone.

A memorial will be held on February 2 at 10:30am at Wade Funeral Home, 4140 West Pioneer Parkway, Arlington, TX 76013. The memorial will be immediately followed by a graveside service at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211. A Celebration of Life will be held later that afternoon from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at the Kathryn Wilemon Lake House Event Center, 6021 W Arkansas Ln., Arlington, TX 76016. Food and beverages will be provided.
