Jack Dexter Rankin, a Certified Public Accountant, passed away unexpectedly on December 11, 2022 in Arlington, Texas. He was the senior partner of Rankin & Khan LLP.

Jack was born in Dallas, Texas on September 26, 1953, to Mary Lou (née Allen) and Jack Milton Rankin.

Jack was a hard worker, a generous and kind man, a conscientious teacher, and a very happy person. He graduated with a degree in Business Administration – Accounting from the University of Texas – Arlington, then earned his CPA. He taught Accounting at Dallas County Community College for 15 years. Before he started his private practice, he was employed at Dallas County Auditors Office, where he met Mary Brender, a Dallas County librarian. They married October 18, 1986.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting and traveling. He was an avid sports fan, unfailingly cheering on the Dallas Mavericks, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Texas Rangers. He had a great smile and an easy laugh. He was most proud of earning the rank of Eagle Scout.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Richard Salas, and his aunt and uncle, Elsie and George Allen.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Mary Brender Rankin, by his sister, Roxanna Anderson (Mark), by his brother-in-law Art Brender (Lynda), and his sister-in-law JoAnn Mulholland (Terry).

Jack is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Sarah Blankenship (Patrick), Dr. Erin Brender (Dr. Mujahid Rizvi), John Brender (Brittyn), Katherine Heller (Spencer), Peter Mulholland, Ashley Larson (Tim), Clay Salas, Coty Brown (Ashley), Christopher Johnson (Jill), Matthew Eaton (Christina), Aaron Eaton (Becca), and Caleb Anderson.

He was also beloved by his great-nieces and great-nephews: Molly, Ellie, and Grace Blankenship, Sully and Rayan Rizvi, Bobby and Bailey Anne Brender, Nova, Fox, and Romy Heller, Mattie Eaton, Grayson and Ruby Eaton, Natalie Salas, Lars and Reed Larson, Bentley and Landon Brown, Ocean, Raina, and Jace Johnson, Cathryn, Cayden, Tatum, and Landon Anderson.

He was loved and will be missed by his numerous friends, his business partner Shiraz Khan, and his many clients.

Funeral services will be private. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
