Jack was born October 6, 1923 in Weatherford, the last surviving child of 10 children born to Jim and Emma Vaughan. The family moved to Arlington in 1930 and he has been a resident since that date. He attended Arlington schools and T.C.U. He volunteered and joined the Marine Corps in March 1942 and served until April 1946. Twenty-one months of this time was spent in the Pacific Theatre.
He enjoyed his family, friends, church, Sunday School class and Mission Arlington. He served for many years as a Deacon in the Baptist Church. He was a “born again” Christian, and is now in the presence of the Lord having a reunion with his deceased family and friends. He spent many vacations camping with his wife, daughters, and friends. In their travels, they visited most states in the country. He was a devoted newsperson and contributed many articles to the Star-Telegram. He was retired from Vought Corp., where he worked for 35 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church, The American Legion and the Marine Corps League. He loved the bible and could quote a verse appropriate for most experiences.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers, and 3 sisters.
Survivors: Wife of 72 years, Goldie Mae Abrams Vaughan; daughters, Linda Patterson, Carol Oldham and husband, Gene; grandchildren, Laura O'Connell, James Patterson, Beth Amezcua and Britany Rodriguez; great-grandchildren, Spencer, Keegan, Colton, Brayden, Ava, Allie, Caleb, Alex, and 1 great-grandson on the way; and many relatives and friends whom he will meet again “in the sweet by and by.”
