Hugh Thomas "Tommy" Hurt

ARLINGTON -- Hugh Thomas "Tommy" Hurt, 73, passed away Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, in Grapevine. Service: 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, at First Baptist Church, 301 S. Center St., Arlington, with the Rev. Larry Link and Tillie Burgin officiating. All are welcomed to attend the memorial service. Private interment: Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas. Visitation: 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Mission Arlington or a charity of choice. Tommy was born May 1, 1940, in Murray, Ky., to Hugh Hurt and Lottie Fay Hendricks Hurt. He served in the U.S. Army and married Judy Kelton in Mayfield, Ky., on March 10, 1962. He graduated from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Ala. He retired after almost 39 years, having been an executive in the pharmaceutical industry. An Arlington resident for 25 years, he was an active member of First Baptist Church of Arlington, where he served as Sunday school director for 14 years. Tommy was a deacon and Sunday school teacher, having taught young married couples for 31 years. He enjoyed many years working with Mission Arlington and seven years of mission work, serving in Laredo. Survivors: Beloved wife, Judy Hurt; son, Bradley Thomas Hurt and wife, Marlisa; daughters, Lesli Morrow and husband, Chris, and Kristi McIntosh and husband, Kevin; sister, Fay Poole; grandchildren, Graycen, Ethan, Andrew, Ava, Chloe, Thomas and Mia; and a host of other family members and friends.
