PANTEGO -- Hugh Harper Covington, 71, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, in Arlington.
Service: A private family service will be held.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
Hugh was born on Aug. 19, 1942, in Brookhaven, Miss., to Jack Covington and Verna Mae Prestridge Covington. He served in the U.S. Army as captain for a tour of Vietnam receiving a Bronze Star. Hugh worked in the defense industry and for Lockheed Martin for 36 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Smythe Covington; brother, Neil Covington; and sister, Mary Sue Hemphill.
Survivors: Wife, Carla J. Covington; son, Scott Covington and wife, Meredith; daughter, Kerri Bobbett and husband, Chris; stepson, Tyler D. Magnus and wife, Knel; stepdaughter, Leah Magnus; brother, Carroll Jack Covington and wife, Bettye; grandchildren, Secily, Knox, Amai, Asher, Boone, Bella, Pepper; and stepgrandchildren, Truman, Ruby and Scout.
