Hubert Allen Inness

January 8, 1967 — January 17, 2023

Hubert Allen Inness passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at the age of 56 years old.

Allen was born on January 8, 1967, in Paragould, Arkansas, to James Louis Inness and Shelba Jean Baldridge Inness. Although gone too soon, Allen made an indelible mark on those who knew him.

Allen studied Business Management and Communication at the University of Texas at Arlington. He began working as a Manager at Bank of America in Dallas in 1986, where he caught the eye of a teller named A.B., and the rest, as they say, is history. Allen and A.B. married on June 8, 1996, moved into their home in Arlington and over the years added two boys, James and Will, and many dogs to the family. Allen easily settled into his role as stay-at-home Dad, juggling his Dad duties with his love of cooking and woodworking. As the boys entered Pope Elementary School, a new passion emerged for Allen in the Pope’s Dad Club (PDC). He jumped headlong into the organization, ultimately becoming Secretary and then Vice President of the Board, and gladly spending innumerable hours on Donuts with Dad, Papa-Palooza, Dads @ Door and especially the Fall Festival hayride, where he would luxuriate in a tractor equipped with air conditioning and music, unlike any tractor he had ever experienced growing up in Arkansas. Most lasting, however, were the friendships Allen made with the other dads of PDC, a group who became, and has remained, family.

As the boys grew up and spent more time at school, Allen devoted his time to the support and education of fathers in Arlington. He worked with the Tarrant County Fatherhood Coalition, created a Dads’ Outreach program for the Arlington ISD and later became a Regional Coordinator for CPS. Most recently, Allen was working at NewDay Services for Children & Families, a non-profit devoted to helping parents become the best role models they can be for their children. The job at NewDay was perfect fit Allen, where he began as a Fathers Facilitator and then as the organization’s COO, and where he once again formed relationships that went far beyond that of just coworkers.

Allen had three lifelong loves in addition to his family — the Church, the great outdoors and the Arkansas Razorbacks — and devoted as much of his free time as possible to each. He was an involved member of Woodland West Church of Christ, where he sang bass in the acapella choir, participated in the Men’s Ministry and taught Bible Class. Allen also loved all things outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and kayaking, passions he proudly shared with his boys on their many outdoor weekend adventures. Finally, although he had not lived in Arkansas for years, and much to the chagrin of his Aggie in-laws, Allen’s support of his beloved Razorbacks never wavered.

Allen is preceded in death by his mother, Jean Inness. He will be greatly missed by his wife and best friend, A.B. Inness; his sons, James Michael and William Allen; his father, James Inness (Kathy); his brother, Mark Inness (PJ); his sister Cindy Markum (David); and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. A.B. and the boys will be forever grateful for the outpouring of love and support from the wonderful people at Woodland West Church of Christ, Pope’s Dad Club, NewDay Services and Pantego Christian Academy.

A Celebration of Allen’s life will be held at Woodland West Church of Christ, 3101 W. Park Row Drive, Arlington, Texas 76013 on Monday, February 6, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.
