Howard Franklin Woodward, a devoted family man, proud Marine, and beloved friend, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and strength. Born on October 10, 1946, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, to Robert and Henrietta Woodward, Howard lived a life defined by courage, dedication, and deep compassion.
A true patriot, Frankie answered the call of duty and served honorably in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. His bravery and sacrifice were recognized with numerous commendations, including the Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Rifle Marksman Badge, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Purple Heart, National Defense Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. He served with unwavering integrity and was forever proud of his time in uniform-a true Marine to the end.
Following his military service, Frankie pursued higher education for a year before embarking on a long and steady career as a truck driver. His hard work and resilience were matched only by his love for his family and the simple pleasures of life.
Frankie was married to the love of his life, Kay E. Woodward, and together they built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and love. He was a proud father to Miranda Crutcher, Anthony Woodward, Ashley Woodward, Amanda Parker, and bonus daughter, Melany Smith. His joy only grew with the addition of his grandchildren: Anthony Woodward, Abigail Velasquez, and Harper Parker. He also shared a close bond with his sister, Debbie Powell.
Frankie was a man who found joy in the little things-he loved to read, spend time watching TV, and indulge in his favorite snacks: chocolate donuts, popcorn, and taffy. He had a quick wit and a kind heart, always ready with a joke or a comforting word. His presence could fill a room, and his loyalty to those he loved was unwavering.
Frankie is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Henrietta Woodward; his bonus mom, Geraldine Woodward; his sisters, Nora Jean McCarty, Helen McCarty, and Elizabeth Woodward; brothers, Robert Lee Woodward, Wendell Woodward, and Tommy Woodward.
He will be remembered for his compassion, his humor, and the fierce love he had for his family. To know Frankie was to know someone who lived with heart, who gave without asking, and who stood tall through every storm. His legacy will live on in the memories shared and the lives he touched.
Rest in peace, Frankie. Semper Fi.
