Herma June Berna passed away on December 8,2024 at the age of 92. She was surrounded by loved ones at her bedside.. Her love of life didn't come to an end on that day, her legacy will be honored by many as they live their lives to the fullest. 

Herma June Berna was born at Parkland Hospital on January 16,1932 to Homer and Pearl Stults and lived a life full of love, faith, and joy. Her early years were spent in Arlington, TX and she attended Arlington High School. She was married to Linzy Dale Berna, Jr. on January 21, 1951,

 June's passion for life extended to her love of nature, especially her enjoyment of bird watching—particularly hummingbirds, which she adored. Her backyard, with its feeders, was a testament to her love of life’s simple joys. She was also a lifelong lover of roses and gardening. She enjoyed spending time cultivating her plants, finding peace in her garden. Music was another source of happiness for her, with country and gospel music holding a special place in her heart. She was a season ticket holder for Johnnie HIgh's Country Music Revue, further showcasing her vibrant personality.

 June’s life was one of service, devotion, and love. After a successful career as an insurance underwriter, she and her late husband, Linzy Dale Berna, Jr., retired to 23 acres in Meridian, Texas. There, they created a warm and caring home for all and enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. On their farm they cared for cattle, sheep, fruit orchard and a garden.. Their love of nature and each other was the cornerstone of their retirement. After her husband's death in 1994, June returned to Arlington, TX to be near family and friends. She was a beloved member of Fielder Road Baptist Church since September 10, 1995 where she was a dedicated volunteer in the preschool ministry and an active participant in the Widows Ministry.

 Her family was her greatest treasure. June enjoyed cooking and gathering with loved ones, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth McMurry ( husband Steve), and daughter Deborah Nail. Her grandchildren Steven McMurry Jr., Kody Rash (wife Candace), Kasey Rash (wife Miranda), Sara Alcantar (husband Ryan), and Skylan Purdy,,and great-grandchildren Brooke McMurry, Kinsler Alcantar, Keller Alcantar, Cordelia Schroeder and Milena Rash.

Her siblings, Joann Lancaster (husband Guy) , Jackie Stults (wife Betty), Jerry Stults (wife Patricia), and Sharon Coleman. Also, numerous nieces and nephews

June was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Pearl Stults, her husband, Linzy Dale Berna, Jr and her son, William Joseph Berna.

A visitation will be held at 9:00 AM on December 20, 2024, with services to follow at 10:00 AM at Wade Family Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Meridian Cemetery in Meridian, Texas.
