Herbert Bernard “Ben” Bethke, 81, passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 in Arlington.

Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1927 SW Green Oaks Blvd, Arlington. Funeral Mass: 11 a.m. Thursday, June 2, at St. Joseph Catholic Parish, 1927 SW Green Oaks Blvd, Arlington. Graveside Service: 2 p.m. at Parkdale Cemetery, Arlington.

Ben was born on October 7, 1940 in St. Louis, Missouri. He moved to Arlington from Waco in 1960. Ben married Laraine Ann Craig on August 11, 1962. He retired as an Accountant from the APD Administration. He had a strong Christian faith and served his community throughout his life. Ben led worship at St. Matthew Catholic Church and was a reader and Eucharistic minister for St. Joseph Catholic Parish.

Ben loved all music, especially country music. He was a member of a country and western band called Yesterday’s Wine. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He had a passion for traveling and dancing with Laraine and spent his days at home gardening and enjoying the company of his small dogs. Blue was his favorite color.

Ben was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Arthur Bethke and Mary Annie Fickey Bethke; son, Brandon Michael Bethke; and grandson, Cody Michael Boyd; brothers, Tim Womac and Stephen Womac.

Survivors: Wife, Laraine Bethke; sons, Benjamin Bethke and Brian Bethke; daughters, Ann Storm and husband, Randy, Teresa Bethke, Mary Adams and husband, Chris, and Christina Standard and husband, Lance; brothers, Fabian Womac, Jim Womac, Randall Womac and Jeffery Womac; sisters, Mary Evelyn Neckar, Nancy Womac Wade, and Marilyn Womac Johnson; 15 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
