Arlington

Helen Sue Hiler, also known in life as Mom, Mommy, Momma, Mammur, Suzy, Helen Sue, Cha-Cha, Mrs. Hiler and Mrs. Fred, passed away on February 3, 2025 at 80 years young leaving behind a legacy of love, devotion, and warmth. She was born to Alvin Myles and Mary Emma (Taylor) Tompkins on June 24, 1944, in Grand Prairie, Texas. At the age of 2, Helen and her family moved to Arlington, where she would remain a beloved resident for the next 78 years.

Helen was a deeply devoted mother, whose love for her children knew no bounds. Her large family was her pride and joy, and her nurturing spirit extended beyond her own children, as she opened her heart and home to their friends as well. A woman of ingenuity and resourcefulness, Helen was a problem solver who always found creative ways to manage the everyday challenges of raising a family and maintaining her home. Her quick-thinking and fun-loving character created countless memories that her children will treasure forever.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Mary Emma Tompkins, sister Joye Mace, and parents-in-law Jean and Eddie Hiler. She is survived by daughter Jeana Dunakin, her husband George, daughter Jennifer (Ferfer) Hiler, son Fred Hiler and his wife Jennifer; her beloved grandchildren Ashleigh Black, Jaeden Valdez, Ethan Yepez, Mollie Yepez, and Elena Hiler, and her great grandson Tobias Guzman; her niece Brenda Norman and nephew David Mace; bonus children Joe Wilson, Miguel and Amber Valdez, Davina Barnett and Nikki Hale; her very bestest friend DaNell Barnett and all the members of her family that are Helen’s family, too; her sisters-in-law Marian Hiler, Ann Knudsen and Stephanie Bledsoe; her brother-in-law Danny Hiler; and countless other family and friends who loved her dearly.

Helen will be deeply missed but her presence in their lives will be forever remembered and her legacy of love and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Just as in life, her spirit will continue to guide those she leaves behind.
