Helen Earline Harvey, “Nana”, passed away peacefully after a short battle with ovarian cancer Monday, September 27, 2021, at the age of 78, in Arlington, Texas. Visitation for family and friends will be Sunday, October 24, from 2:00-4:00 pm at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 West Pioneer Parkway, Arlington, 76013. Interment will be Monday, October 25, at 10:30 am at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, 75211. Earline was born in Edgewood, Texas, on January 5, 1943, to Jefferson Jackson Gammons and Lila Jenkins Gammons. She lived her entire childhood in Edgewood and was the youngest of seven siblings. She was a cheerleader for the Edgewood Bulldogs while in high school and graduated in 1961. She remained close with childhood friends until her passing. She moved to Dallas after graduation and worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for a short time and held several other jobs. On November 10, 1975, she began what would become a 25 year career. Her employment as a Loan Officer at LTV Federal Credit Union, which is now Texas Trust Credit Union, opened the door to a long career in a banking field dominated by men. Earline was highly respected by her colleagues, co-workers and other Credit Union personnel. Over the years she received numerous promotions including Loan Manager, Supervisor of both the Mortgage and Collections Department, Lending and the Call Center. She received numerous awards including Manager of the Year and Vice President of the Year. Earline also attended and graduated from Southwest CUNA Management School. She was known for her fairness, dedication, good cooking, and staff parties. She developed lifelong friendships with numerous employees from her workplace. Her dedication to a strong work ethic has been passed on to both of her children. When she retired in December 2000, after 25 years with Texas Trust Credit Union, she was Vice President of Administration which included Mortgage Lending, Indirect Lending and Collections. Earline met her “soulmate,” Jesse, at LTV in 1982. They were married on October 19, 1989. Earline loved to entertain, especially with her family. She loved a good game of cards or dominoes. She was a very active part in the lives of her five grandsons. She taught them as she did her children, that love is unconditional and cheered them on in any endeavor. Upon retirement the couple relocated to Pecan Plantation in Granbury. While in Granbury she discovered a love for the game of golf and was quite competitive. She developed many lasting friendships in Granbury and enjoyed numerous trips with her girlfriends. She became a Christian at an early age and enjoyed a close personal relationship with Christ. She taught her family about God through her actions, lifestyle, and her everyday relationship with him. Earline had the ability to make anyone she met feel they had known her their entire life. Her home was always open to whomever would drop by. She loved to cook and was known by everyone for her infamous chocolate chip cookies. Earline and Jesse moved back to Arlington in 2019. This allowed her to be closer to and spoil her great grands who each brought such joy to her life. Anyone who knew her could hear her say these words. “Now, go on”. She would want everyone to carry on and live life to the fullest. Earline will be greatly missed and left an unfillable hole in the hearts of her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Jesse in May of this year and siblings; Hubert Gammons of Longview, Beatrice White Gammons of Edgewood. She is survived by siblings: B.R Gammons of Edgewood, Edith Gammons Wade of Tyler, Janice Gammons Fisher of Euless and Lois Gammons Rice of Edgewood; her daughter, Terri and husband, Nathan Basham; son, Jeff and wife, Missy McGarr; grandsons: Bobby McGarr; Tyler and wife, Jessica Davault; Brandon McGarr; Spencer Basham, Bryant and wife, Brittney McGarr; and great-grand-children: Konnor, Jameson, Luka, David, Olivia, and Hasting.
