ARLINGTON -- Harrol Douglas Walker, 88, went to be with his Lord Sunday, February 24, 2013.
Funeral Service: 3:00 p.m. Thursday in Wade Family Funeral Home Chapel, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington.
Memorials: Harrol would be pleased to have his memory honored with a gift to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, 1 Billy Graham Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28201.
Harrol was born in Roaring Springs, Texas on December 4, 1924 to John William and Jessie Coop Walker. At age 17 he came to Fort Worth, where he worked nights at Hicks Field and also drove a milk truck for Alta Vista Creamery. On December 17, 1943 he married Foye Davis in Weatherford, TX. After a short stint in the Army, Harrol received automobile mechanic training at the Packard Dealership. He owned and operated Walker's Garage in Fort Worth for 18 years. In 1969 he and Foye moved to Arlington and purchased Arlington Rental Yard. They operated that successful business for 12 years. During his retirement years Harrol sold securities and life insurance.
At age 29 Harrol received Jesus Christ as his personal Savior; that experience was a major turning point in his life. He was passionate about his relationship with Christ and shared the gospel enthusiastically wherever he went. He passed out gospel tracts by the thousands; in later years he typed up his personal testimony and shared it untiringly.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Johnnie Walker Lacy.
Survivors: Wife of 69 years, Foye Walker; sons, Don Walker and wife, Carol, and Roy Walker; daughter, Karen Whitehouse and husband, Keith; grandchildren, Robert Walker, Michael Walker, Dustin McCaslin, Tyler McCaslin, and Rachel Brenner; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Patsy Hudspeth and Thelma Jackson.
