Harold Ray Parish

September 28, 1929 — December 26, 2016

Harold Ray Parish was born September 28th, 1929. He was the oldest of seven children to Martin and Stella Parish. His family moved from Fort Worth to Aledo where he was raised. He graduated in 1948 as Class President from Aledo high school and played on Aledo's first football team. All surviving members of the first Aledo football team were recognized a few years ago during the half time ceremony and he was able to attend. Harold joined the Air Force in 1950 and served during the Korean War. He was stationed in Tripoli for most of his time in the service. Harold installed electrical generators and airfield runway lighting. After leaving the Air Force he was employed by the FAA and did electrical work all over the United States installing generator substations. At one point he was stationed in Washington D.C. where he met Guinavere Greene and they were married September 1st, 1953. They soon moved to the Arlington area as he had plans of starting his own electrical business close to where he grew up. He did just that in 1961 and founded Parish Electric of Fort Worth, Inc. Parish Electric still exists today as one of the oldest electrical construction companies in Fort Worth. Harold also loved farming and ranching and started buying land west of Mineral Wells in 1966 and it has evolved into a working cattle ranch and it still exists today raising and selling Black Angus cattle. Harold always had projects going and stayed busy with work but made time with his family which involved quail hunting, raising bird dogs, fishing, ranching and going to our sporting events. Most importantly, he raised his family in the Baptist church and understood the good news of the gospel. Harold had a special easy going way of talking with people that was entertaining and humorous. The stories, his voice and laughter will be missed until we all meet again. He loved his family and took care of all until the end. His wife Guinavere has been ill for the last year and has been bedridden. He has arranged for her to be home with private care and for them to be together to the end as he believed strongly in the oath “ till death do us part.” Harold was preceded in death by his parents; and six younger siblings. Survivors: Wife of 63 years, Guinavere Parish; daughter, Lesa Parish; sons, Stan Parish and wife, Jane, Greg Parish and wife, Patti, and Chris Parish and wife, Linda; and five grandchildren, Neal Parish, Clint Parish, Nathan Parish and fiance, Carissa Washam, Clay Parish and wife, Cecily, Catie Parish and fiance, Quent Roach. Memorials: Harold had struggled with a wound on his right foot for the last four years and ended up losing his leg below the knee in July. He recovered very quickly and to the Dr.'s amazement, in only a month was up walking on his prosthesis. They had not seen anyone at his age progress so quickly. He was walking a mile a day up until he passed away and had won this fight! Baker Brace, Orthotics and Prosthesis in Fort Worth was instrumental in his progress and if you choose, in lieu of flowers please make a donation to Baker Brace and note on the check: Harold R. Parish Fund. So many people we saw there were without insurance or not old enough for Medicare and were caught in the middle of the insurance system and could not afford the prosthesis needed.
