ARLINGTON -- Jack Burks passed away Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, in Arlington. He was 79 years old.
Graveside service: Private in Moore Memorial Gardens, Arlington.

Jack was born Nov. 1, 1932, in Houston, to Gladys Jackson and Daniel Stephens Burks. He attended San Jacinto High School and graduated from Allen Military Academy after which he received a degree from the University of Houston.
Jack, Carolyn and their children, Wynne and Ken, moved to Arlington in 1965 where Jack was vice president of sales at Reserve Life Insurance Company in Dallas. Later he started his own company, American Health and Accident. After retirement he was involved in several small businesses in Arlington.
Jack faithfully served his country in the United States Army as a first lieutenant and was stationed in Korea. He was a member of New World United Methodist Church.
Survivors: He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carolyn Wynne Burks; son, Ken Burks of Denver, Colo.; grandsons, Chris Daugherty and Matt Daugherty; sister-in-law, Dorothy Seay Wynne of Houston; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
