Hannah Young

Hannah Young, 97, passed away on March 1, 2023, in Arlington, TX.

Hannah Young was born on August 25, 1925 in Tarboro, NC the seventh child to Sylvester Sawyer and Annie Ball Sawyer.
She started her career as an administrative assistant in Washington DC with the Quartermaster Corp after graduating from Tarboro High School.

Hannah married Roy V Young March 24 1945 in Frederick MD. They had a wonderful life together for sixty years, with extensive travel in the. US and abroad.

Hannah took up golf and bridge in her forties and had her only hole in one at the age of 82. She loved music, dancing and singing and also took piano lessons late in life and played in her church bell choir in Birmingham, AL. She loved the Lord and was a member of St Barnabas UMC Arlington Tx She was a fierce advocate for her mentally ill son, James. Family was of utmost importance to her. She was generous and fun loving and was the embodiment of hospitality. Even advanced dementia could not quench her spirit.

Many thanks to Musical Memory Singers Arlington Tx for their weekly musical program that brought her so much joy for the past 5 years. Special thanks to A Touch of Grace Care, LLC who provided exceptional care to her and enhanced her quality of life in her final two years. Anchor of Hope Hospice staff were outstanding in helping Hannah and family navigate the progression of her disease. We are grateful to all who visit her and provided loving care to her and to Margaret especially Dr Marvetta Scott, Connie Morgan, Jennifer Garland and Michael Starr.

Hannah is survived by Margaret and Larry Arnold, daughter, daughter in law Margery Young and grandchildren Chaz Steinhauser, Cher Steinhauser, Michael Arnold and spouse Jeanie and great granddaughter Leah Arnold.

Hannah is preceded in death by her husband, Roy, and her three sons Roy II, Bruce and James. She had ten siblings, all who have preceded her in death.

The time date and location for her memorial service will be announced at a later date.
