Gwendolyn "Gwen" Allen

Gwendolyn Marrero Allen known by everyone as “Gwenie” was born on January 22, 1965 to the late Gerald Johnson and Yvonne Marrero. Gwendolyn was called home on February 26, 2023. She accepted Christ as her Savior during her adolescence. Gwenie was a loving, dedicated, and supportive wife, mom, grandmother and friend.

She leaves behind her beloved family, her husband Shawn of 15 years, five loving children, Jonathan Marrero, Deidre Marrero (Corey), and Brian Marrero (Jonquillia), Shawn Allen Jr. and Charles Combre Jr. She was a grandmother to Adam Chisholm (Randii), Ernest, Nekole, Ciara Marrero and Lebrian and Kyng Marrero. She is survived by sisters, Nicole Louis (the late Chris), Trishon Marrero (Clinton), Courtney Marrero-Gibson (Kevin) and brothers, Christopher Marrero and Tony Lacour and only living aunt, Helen Green. She was an aunt to Jamekia Price (Vincent), Jude Henry, (Samantha) Miyari, Kunira and Kevin Gibson, Erin, Raven and Raymond Marrero. Beloved cousin of Christine and Darlene. Gwendolyn was preceded in death by her mom, Yvonne Marrero, father, Gerald Johnson, brothers, Ernest and Raymond Marrero, her grandparents, Helen Green, Edward Marrero, Elma and Johnny Johnson and brother-in-law, Christopher Louis.

Gwenie was an exceptional pillar in her community who loved to sing and dance. She had a joy about her that no one could deny. Through all of her volunteering for community events, becoming grandmother of all children, providing for the needy and unfortunate, and her dedication to making a difference in this world will never be forgotten. Gwendolyn was grounded in faith and uplifted in love. Her spiritual walk was fearless and uplifting during her faithful walk with God. She made a difference in many lives and she will be truly missed. Everyone that met Gwenie has loved her for over a lifetime from New Orleans, LA to Dallas, TX.

Funeral Service: 2 p.m. Monday, March 6, at Wade Family Funeral Home Chapel, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington.
