Gregory Matthew Guttman

Gregory Matthew Guttman, 53, passed away Monday, April 24th, 2023. His memorial service will be held on May 13th, 2:00 pm., at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Pkwy, Arlington, Texas 76013.

Greg was born November 5, 1969, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Richard and Charlotte Guttman. He was born prematurely with Cerebral Palsy disorder, which he struggled with but never let define him. He traveled the world with his family, having one special trip where his disability became a blessing as God granted him and his father the honor of meeting Pope John Paul II, now Saint; A moment that shaped his future, guiding his relationship with the Lord.

A consummate lover of sports, Greg grew up playing wheelchair basketball, traveling the US with his team, and participating in the Special Olympics for many years. He loved the Dallas Cowboys despite their ups and downs, and with his steel trap memory could site sport statistics and other numerous facts and events many of us had forgotten. He was a kind spirit with a tender heart, who loved his family and friends, writing poetry and participating in poetry slams. He was gregarious, quick to laugh and loved making others laugh with him.
He graduated from Texas Wesleyan University with a Liberal Arts degree and was very active on campus as a proud member of the Kappa Alpha fraternity.

Greg was preceded in death by his father, Richard Guttman. He is survived by his mother, Charlotte Guttman and sister, Michelle Guttman. His nephews, Colin Cashman, wife, Kelci and their children, Trip Embrey, Clover, and Zealand and Ryan Cashman and wife Carley. Aunt Kathi Carpenter and cousin Jason Williams, wife Angie, and their children, Katelyn and Braden Joe and many beloved family members, along with oldest and best friend, Rob Nicoll. The family would like to extend their love and thanks to Lupe Vargas, who aided the family helping care for Greg during his last few years.
