It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gloria Lynn Smith, a cherished mother, grandmother, and educator, who peacefully left this world on November 5, 2024, in Arlington, Texas, at the age of 79. Born on September 1, 1945, in Norwalk, Connecticut, Gloria dedicated her life to teaching and nurturing others, leaving an enduring impact on both her students and her family.
A passionate educator, Gloria shaped the lives of many students during her long career with Joshua and Fort Worth Independent School Districts. She held a bachelor's degree and inspired countless young minds to reach their fullest potential, always leading with kindness, patience, and a deep commitment to education.
Gloria is survived by her devoted children, Ginger Hood, Douglas Smith, and Jonathan Smith, along with their spouses. Her love and wisdom will live on through her grandchildren, including Justin Hood, Sarah Hall, Evan Hood, Jacob Smith, Amanda Coons, Ryan Smith, Abigail Sharp, Ethan McCullough, Solomon and Graham Taylor, as well as her great-grandchildren. They are a testament to her legacy of love, compassion, and strength.
Gloria was preceded in death by her beloved family members: Clyde Smith, Elton Arnold, Matilda Arnold, Darienne Smith-Novack, Donna Taylor, and Luke McCullough.
Her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. Gloria's kindness, wisdom, and love will be dearly missed, but never forgotten. May she rest in peace.
