Master Chief Glennbob Talley (Us Navy Ret.)

January 6, 1943 — December 29, 2021

Glennbob Talley, 78, of Arlington, Texas. A sailor passed away from this life on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at his home after battling injuries incurred five decades ago during his service to his country.

A memorial service will be held at 9 am on Friday, January 14, 2022, at Wade Family Funeral Home. The inurnment will follow at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.

He was born on January 6, 1943, in Dallas, Texas. Glennbob was the son of the late Robert B. and Virgie Rice Talley

In 1961, he graduated from South Oak Cliff High School.

As a sailor he sailed the seven seas and every ocean from February 1964 to March 1989, serving a tour in Vietnam as well as tours aboard different aircraft carriers. USS Ticonderoga, USS Enterprise, USS Nimitz, and USS Constellation to name a few. He retired from the Navy as a Master Chief Petty Officer.

He was a 1989 graduate of Norwood University in their school of business. Later, he was employed by the US Postal Service as a rural carrier/delivery supervisor until his retirement.

During his retirement years he kept busy with the VFW and was Commander of VFW 8561 for 12 years and District 21 Commander for 1 year.

Glennbob was preceded in death by his parents and one great granddaughter, Eliza Bennett.

Glennbob was a beloved husband and father who opened his heart to all his children.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Shiela; his many children, Kimberly Talley Bennett and husband, David, Kyle Talley, Lacey Talley, Areyonna Talley, and Marie Townsend Shaw and husband, Scott, Nathan Townsend and Carina, Ray Williamson and wife, Jamie, and Jim Shuemake and wife, Daisy; beautiful grandchildren, Jonathan Bennett and wife, Elizabeth, Brittany Bennett Webb and husband, Matt, Kourtney Bennett, Whitney Bennett Ray and husband, Dalton, Jared Townsend and wife, Brittany, Samantha Townsend, Dr. Stephan Gouse and wife, Briana, Bradley Gouse and fiancé, Hailey, Aiden, Clarissa, and Alan Shuemake; rambunctious great grandchildren, Gracelynn, Jon-Henry, Annalee, Benjamin, Wrangler, Levi, and Annaliese; brothers, David Talley and Steve Talley and wife, Sheila; many nephews, nieces, friends, and his Naval and VFW family.
